As they seek to understand why the boy was murdered, the PTA group at the local school attempt to conceal the Satanic worship they begin to fear may have summoned a darker force than any of them anticipated...

Joined for the first time this season by Wayne Talbot, artist and co-presenter of The Irish Pubcast, Tony explores the last episode of S2 by Morgan & Wong, and the first ever directorial effort from the late, great Kim Manners.

THE X-CAST continues with host Tony Black investigating Season 2 Episode 13, 'Irresistible'.

After a series of corpse mutilations in Minneapolis, Mulder and Scully arrive to investigate what Mulder soon comes to believe is an 'escalating fetishist', someone with a powerful compulsion to desecrate the dead who may be preparing for his first kill. At the same time, the fetishist--seemingly normal delivery man Donnie Pfaster--undergoes a transformation as his disturbing compulsion grows. As Mulder closes in, Scully becomes increasingly unnerved by a case which gets truly under her skin...

Joined by fellow X-Cast blogger and huge X-Files fan Carl Sweeney, Tony breaks down the beats of 'Irresistible', while also discussing its influences, including Chris Carter's series Millennium. Carl also answers the 5 Questions of X.

THE X-CAST continues with host Tony Black going in depth on Kami Garcia's 2017 The X-Files Origins prequel book, 'Agent of Chaos'.

In the spring of 1979, seventeen-year-old Fox Mulder has bigger problems than applying for college. Five years ago, his younger sister disappeared from their home and was never heard from again. Mulder blames himself, and his mother blames his father, who has retreated into his top-secret work for the State Department. In Fox's senior year, his dad has moved him to Washington, DC--away from his friends on Martha's Vineyard.

While Mulder doesn't mind the fresh start and not being known as "that kid with the missing sister," he's still obsessed with finding Samantha. So when a local boy turns up dead and another child is abducted, Mulder can't stop himself from getting involved. Could there be a link to his sister's case? As he uncovers the truth, Mulder and his friends find themselves on the trail of a serial killer.

Sucked into a world where conspiracies, the occult, and madness overlap, Fox Mulder starts to believe.

Joined by Australian writer George Ivanoff, Tony talks about the story, character, and themes of the book and how it connects to the TV show. George also answers the 5 Questions of X and discusses his own contribution to The X-Files via the Secret Agendas anthology story, 'An Eye for an Eye'.

THE X-CAST continues with host Tony Black looking back at The X-Files Season 2 episode 12 - 'Aubrey', written by Sara B. Charno, and directed by Rob Bowman.

In the small town of Aubrey, Missouri, a detective named BJ Morrow in a delirious outburst uncovers the long buried remains of two FBI agents missing since the 1940's. Mulder & Scully arrive to investigate BJ's strange discovery, and how it links to a historic series of violent murders in Aubrey, in which the word 'SISTER' was carved on the female victim's chests. When a new murder occurs, and BJ begins slipping into a strange madness, Mulder & Scully must face the question - nature or nurture?

Joined once again by Trek FM's Melodic Treks podcaster Brandon Shea-Mutala, Tony examines a much deeper and more fascinating X-File than people often remember. Plus Brandon, for the first time, takes on the X-Quiz this week - can he make a top score?

THE X-CAST takes a break from episodes this week as Tony Black interviews, for the very first time, an actor who has appeared on The X-Files - guest star Scott Bellis, aka Max Fenig from S1's 'Fallen Angel' & S4's 'Tempus Fugit' & 'Max'.

In this conversation, Scott discusses how he came to be cast on The X-Files during the early days of its production, his working dynamic with David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson, and his experiences filming 'Fallen Angel' and then returning for a pivotal role in S4's two-parter. Scott also discusses his wider career in TV, movies and especially theater, including what he's up to right now.

THE X-CAST continues with host Tony Black looking back at THE X-FILES Season 2 episode 11 - 'Excelsis Dei', written by Paul Brown, and directed by Stephen Surjik.

Following the violent sexual attack on a nurse by what seems to be some kind of spirit being, Mulder and Scully head for the Excelsis Dei elderly care home after the nurse files a lawsuit against the Federal government, alleging one of the elderly patients raped her. What they find is a conspiracy among the patients to conceal a remarkable truth about how their chronic illnesses are receding, which may be tied to a sinister spiritual force...

Joined once again by Failed Critics & Character Unlock podcaster Andrew Brooker, Tony takes a scalpel to what he and Brooker come to believe may be one of the worst X-Files of all time. Brooker also takes on the X-Quiz this week - can he equal his previous top scores?

In the small town of Marville, after a spate of seemingly unrelated deaths, Mulder & Scully are ordered by new FBI Section Chief Arlen Douglas to investigate. Joined by green junior agent Hank Webber and his tough partner Licia Andrews, and with Mulder's old reporter friend Carl Barelli close behind, they become embroiled in a small town community with secrets at a premium and a troubling local legend about a murderous 'goblin'...

Joined by novelist and X-Cast blogger Sarah Blair, in her first appearance, Tony examines the differences between book and show, breaking down the characters, plot lines and prose. Plus Sarah gets a chance to discuss her debut novel, Darkness Shifting, very much inspired by The X-Files.
